Three ways to work together
The work is always shaped around your goals. Where we begin depends on what you’re navigating and whether you – or your organization – is investing in the coaching.
For leaders & founders
Private Leadership Coaching
Whether you’re navigating a difficult decision, a people challenge, or the feeling that work is taking up too much of your life, coaching gives you space to step back, get clear on your goals, and make changes that support both how you lead and how you want to live.
For turning points
Major Transition Coaching
For people who have reached the point where the life or career they worked hard to build no longer feels aligned. Maybe you’re burned out, becoming a parent changed your priorities, your job ended unexpectedly, or you’ve simply outgrown an old definition of success.
For organizations
Executive Coaching
For companies investing in a leader’s growth and development — whether they’re stepping into greater responsibility or learning to lead through more complexity. We’ll align on goals for the engagement while protecting the confidentiality that allows effective coaching to happen.
Not sure which option fits? That’s okay. The complimentary introductory call gives us a chance to talk through what you’re looking for and determine the best place to start.
why work with a coach?
You don’t need to be struggling to benefit from coaching
The people I work with are often already successful by conventional measures. They’re capable, resourceful, and used to solving hard problems.
Coaching isn’t about fixing something that’s broken. It’s about recognizing when the habits and strategies that got you here may not be the ones that will serve you best in the future.
Coaching gives you a confidential place to step out of the day-to-day, look honestly at what’s happening below the surface, and make more deliberate decisions about how you want to lead, work, and show up for the people and priorities that matter most.
what coaching is and isn’t
What actually happens in a coaching session
Each session starts with what feels most important that day—a decision you’re weighing, a conversation you’re avoiding, a habit you want to change, or an opportunity you’re considering. I’ll help you slow things down, uncover what may be driving the situation, and see choices that are difficult to access when you’re in the middle of it. Over time, you become better able to recognize your patterns, respond with intention, and navigate future challenges with deeper self-awareness.
What coaching is
- A collaborative partnership built on trust and mutual respect
- A private place to think out loud without needing to have everything figured out
- Questions and observations that help you notice what you may be missing
- A way to spot patterns, question old assumptions, and see more options
- Support turning new insight into decisions, actions, and changes you choose
What coaching isn’t
- Me telling you what to do
- Someone analyzing your life and handing you a plan
- Advice based on what worked for someone else
- Therapy or treatment for trauma or mental health concerns
- A relationship where I’m the expert and you’re expected to follow my lead
- Pressure to pursue goals or take actions that don’t feel right to you
The whole person approach
How you live shapes how you lead
It’s hard to do your best work when you’re being pulled in ten directions, running on four hours of sleep and three cups of coffee, and left with no time for your health, your family, or the things that restore you.
Your health, relationships, and life outside work shape how you communicate, make decisions, and respond under pressure. That’s why the whole picture is welcome in our coaching sessions — not just the part of you that shows up for work.
The experience
What working together actually looks like
We start with a free 30-minute call to talk about what’s going on, what you’d like help with, and whether working together makes sense.
If we move forward, we’ll begin by getting clear on the larger change you want to make. Sometimes that goal is obvious. Sometimes it takes a few conversations to uncover. For example, you may want help choosing your next career move but first need to separate what you genuinely want from what looks successful on paper. Or you may be overwhelmed and realize that being the person who handles everything has become part of your identity.
I don’t follow a standard program. You set the agenda each session based on what feels most important that week, while we keep the bigger goal in view.
In between sessions, we may agree on a few doable action steps you want to take. The homework is never generic and shouldn’t feel burdensome.
As we go, we’ll check in on what’s changing, what still feels stuck, and whether the focus needs to shift. The goal is not only to solve the problem that brought you in, but also to help you understand yourself more clearly and make lasting changes.

Hi, I’m Kristen bor
I bring more than a decade of leadership and entrepreneurship to my coaching
Earlier in my career, I spent four years working inside Congress, where I supported elected leaders in a high-stakes environment shaped by competing priorities, public scrutiny, and decisions with real consequences.
I later spent more than a decade as the founder of Bearfoot Theory, growing it from a personal blog into a business with a team, a payroll, major partnerships, millions of readers, and multi-day events. Along the way, I learned how to lead people, make difficult decisions, navigate uncertainty, and change direction when the path I was on no longer fit.
Those experiences shape the way I coach. I understand what it’s like to carry responsibility, solve complex problems, and still need space to step back and think more clearly about what comes next.
I’m currently completing my professional coaching certification through the Hudson Institute, a rigorous ICF-accredited program grounded in adult development and lasting behavioral change. Hudson’s approach goes beyond helping clients solve the issue in front of them; it focuses on building the self-awareness and capacity to make meaningful changes that hold up over time.
the role of nature
The Philosophy Behind Silent Trees
My coaching practice is called Silent Trees for a reason. Some of my clearest thinking and most important decisions haven’t come at a desk. They’ve come outside, hiking through the forest, where I’m able to step away from the noise and see things from a different perspective.
Research shows that even two hours a week in nature can reduce stress, restore attention, and support cognitive and emotional well-being — qualities that underpin strong leadership, sound decision-making, and meaningful self-development.
That perspective shapes the spirit of my coaching, but it doesn’t prescribe how our work should look. You don’t need to be outdoorsy, and I won’t suggest outdoor practices unless spending more time outside is something you want to explore.
Our work is always guided by your goals. Nature may become part of that process — or simply remain the grounding philosophy behind Silent Trees.
Good to know
Questions people usually ask
What actually happens in a session?
We’ll begin by defining what would make the session valuable to you. From there, I’ll ask focused questions, share observations, and help you examine what may be operating beneath the surface.
A session may create a fundamental shift in how you see yourself, your leadership, or the situation in front of you. That new perspective can unlock a decision, a concrete action, or a different way of responding — one that continues to shape what you do long after the conversation ends.
How are sessions conducted?
Sessions take place over Zoom and last 60 minutes. Most clients meet with me every other week, allowing time between sessions to reflect, apply new insights, and notice what is changing. We can determine what cadence is appropriate after our first meeting.
I’m based in Park City, Utah and also offer in-person sessions. We’ll begin in a quiet, private setting where we can focus without distractions. As our work develops, outdoor sessions may also be an option when that feels supportive of your goals.
How long do clients typically work with me?
Meaningful development takes time. Coaching engagements typically span 6–12 sessions, giving us space to address immediate challenges while supporting deeper self-development and long-term change.
The exact length depends on your goals and what emerges through the work, which we’ll discuss during your introductory call.
Do I need to be outdoorsy?
Not at all. Nature is part of the philosophy behind Silent Trees, but it isn’t a requirement or a prescribed part of coaching. Our work is always guided by your goals. Time outside may become part of the process when it feels relevant to you — or it may not come into the work at all.
How do I know whether coaching is right for me?
Coaching may be a good fit when you’re ready to examine your thinking, consider new perspectives, and take responsibility for the changes you want to create. The introductory call gives us a chance to discuss what you’re navigating and whether coaching — and working together — feels like the right support.
Coaching may not be the right fit if you’re looking for someone to give you answers, prescribe a step-by-step plan, or make decisions for you.
How much does coaching cost?
Because every coaching engagement is a little different, I don’t use a one-size-fits-all package. During our introductory call, we’ll talk about what you’re working through, how many sessions may be helpful, and the total investment.
