Private leadership coaching

Space to work through what’s weighing on you

You’re usually the person others turn to with their problems. That can leave you with few places to sort through your own – a high-stakes decision, tension with someone on your team, or the sense that work is taking up more room than you want it to.

Through coaching, you can become a clearer, more self-aware leader who can make difficult decisions, navigate people challenges, and carry responsibility without letting work take over your life.

What people bring to coaching

The kinds of things we can work on

In coaching you decide what we focus on. Sometimes you arrive with a specific challenge. Other times, you just know something isn’t working the way you want it to.

Good to know

A whole-person approach to leadership

  • You set the focus. There’s no preset curriculum or model to work through. You bring what’s happening now, while we keep your larger goals in view.
  • We look beyond the immediate problem. Along with working through the situation in front of you, we pay attention to the habits, assumptions, and patterns influencing how you respond.
  • Your whole life is in scope. If the reason a week went badly is happening at home, we can talk about what’s happening at home. There’s no line between work topics and the rest of your life
  • The learning carries forward. The goal isn’t only to solve today’s problem. It’s to help you understand yourself more clearly so you can approach future challenges differently.
  • You can be completely honest. Our conversations are 100% confidential, so you can talk openly about the things that may be difficult to say anywhere else.

Questions I’m often asked

A few specifics

Could my employer pay for this instead?

Possibly. If your employer would like to sponsor your coaching, we would structure it as an executive coaching engagement and agree up front on the goals, boundaries, and confidentiality. The substance of our conversations would remain private. Here’s how sponsored engagements work.

Do you need to understand my industry?

No. You’re the expert in your work. My role isn’t to give you industry-specific advice. It’s to ask thoughtful questions, help you recognize patterns, and support you in finding an approach that works for you.

Will you tell me what to do?

Not usually. I may offer an observation, challenge an assumption, or share an idea when it could be useful, but coaching is not about handing you a prescribed answer. It’s about helping you arrive at decisions you understand and trust.

Do I need to manage a team for coaching to be applicable?

No. Leadership coaching can be useful even if you don’t have direct reports. You may be working toward a promotion, trying to have more influence, navigating a high-pressure role, building something of your own, or noticing that the habits that helped you succeed are starting to get in your way.

What if what I really want is to quit my job?

Then we can explore that honestly. Coaching isn’t about convincing you to stay or pushing you to leave. We’ll look at what isn’t working, what you want instead, and what each possible path would require.
